In association with a separate set of phased refurbishment works at the same home, DHA Architects have delivered a new 3 storey care wing to provide 18 new nursing care bedrooms, ancillary spaces such as assisted bathrooms, sluices, storage areas and nurse stations along with a floor of new independant living apartments.
In line with the client's ethos, the new nursing rooms are equiped with en-suite's, built-in wardrobes and a small kitchenette facility to create a homely environment, allowing family members to congregate in the resident's own room, extending privacy and visiting time.
The provision of assisted living apartments on the site further extends the client's ability to offer extra care to residents whilst fostering their continued independence for as long as possible. The inclusion of residents who are more mobile and active within the home is fundamental to the overall life of the home. These residents are able to participate more in the various daily activities, helping to maintain the overall wellbeing of all residents.
The accommodation in DHAA's new extension has met an "Outstanding" Care Quality Commission rating.
