RESTORATION + REDEVELOPMENT @ AYNHOE PARK

Client: Aynhoe Park
Location: Aynho

DHA Architects have undertaken several projects at Aynhoe Park over a period of several years all as part of a wider scheme to restore the original house and parklands and create a financially viable site which provides a heritage and cultural centre for the village as well as providing an important part of the local economy.

Initially, a change of use scheme was undertaken to change the 2 wings of the house to guest accommodation for weddings and functions from the office use to which it had been put.

Secondly, planning approval was obtained to restore the original Capability Brown parklands known as Aynhoe Corner, financed through an enabling development for 3 large detached houses sited within the grounds. A crisp contemporary design employs the use of high quality natural materials in minimalist forms, sitting within the landscape, almost as sculptural objects with discreet boundaries and orientations which take advantage of the Southerly views through the perimeter tree belt across the Listed parkland.

The Parkland restorations scheme has been developed in conjunction with Landscape Designers Illman Young and consists of:

- Restoration of the perimeter track and creation of new accessible public perimeter walks

- Restoration of the perimeter tree belt

- Restoration of the central tree-lined avenue

- Re-instatement of central open green spaces, alongside the creation of a new sculptural display area

- Restoration of dry stone boundary walls

- Creation of a new Heritage Centre, in conjunction with Mitchell Taylor Workshop
