BOUNDARIES @ ASHCROFT

Client: Mental Healthcare Trust
Location: Birmingham

DHA Architects were appointed to to deliver a scheme of replacement secure boundary treatments to this psychiatric intensive care unit in Birmingham.

The brief was very specific in its requirement for areas of 3.2 and 5.2m high anti-climb secure privacy fencing, a necessity which attracted objections on visual amenity grounds from the planning authority. DHA overcame these objections through clever integration of digitally-printed privacy screens within the mesh fencing build-up which helped the fencing to blend in with its surroundings.

The existing single storey roof areas were modified to include a new barrel-design anti-climb barrier which was created with input from the trust and facilities management teams to ensure the existing maintenance and safety regimes of the site were not compromised.
